A wild weekend with 3 wins and 3 losses, close games, a thumping win and a huge collapse for the Tigers!
4th Grade were chasing 225 vs Kenwick and after a fairly good start at 3/85 we looked a chance, but lost wickets consistently to be bundled out for just 138. Haroon batted well for 39 with Umar and Salman both making 22. We need to turn it around next week.
6th Grade were defending their great score of 220 last week vs Kenwick and really turned it on with the ball. Lead by Captain Steve Hall taking 4/22, Kenwick were soon in trouble and stayed that way, being bundled out for just 44 in 33 overs. Guri Singh 3/9 off 14 overs was brilliant and Harsh Jansali took 3/9 in a fiery spell. Sending them back in Kenwick reached 2/45 after 15 overs with Guri and Harsh taking a wicket each. It was the lowest score by a 6th grade opposition team for decades and really puts a spark of life into the teams prospects this season. Well done Guys!!
7th Grade were chasing 165 vs Cockburn and were looking great at 3/84 with Reddy Madamshetti on 33 and 24 from opener Manoj Kiradi, the loss of Mohammad Aamer for 16 triggered a massive collapse, losing 7 wickets for 3 runs, to be bowled out for 87, a very disappointing result but only the first loss for the team. Better luck next week fellas!
ODB were away to Kenwick, lost the toass and bowled first. Our bowlers dominated and even though we bowled 30 wides, managed to keep them to just 111. Karnam Nagarajuna took 4/24 and Dinaker Narasani 2/10 the best of the bowlers. The run chase started badly with wickets falling like 9 pins and at 7/36 it looked all but lost, but Dinaker 56no with skipper Karnam 11 put on 52 runs to be 8/88. Another partnership was needed and Dinaker, with Prashanth Chekkara 11no, guided the team to victory at 8/115. An inspirational win and one for the memory!!
ODC were away to East Fremantle lost the toss and bowled first. A good start and finish by East Freo helped them set a good total of 5/175, Paulose Sabu 2/27 was the best of the bowlers. We lost 2 wickets for 33 when a great partnership of 77 between opener Sujit 35 and Sarath got things on track. Sarath continued on with the middle order but he fell with the finish line in sight for a well made 67 as we just missed the target falling 4 runs short at 7/171. A good close game guys!!
ODE had a Bye
ODG were at Sutherlands vs Thornlie, lost the toss and batted first. Our batsmen started well but a steady fall of wickets kept Thornlie in the game. Captain Mohamed Zainudeen made a steady 27 and Sakun with 34no held the innings together. A massive 80 extras with 66 wides cost Thornlie as they would chase 179. Our bowlers got on top of the opposition and never let them in the game as we bowled them out for just 94, Manula Rajakaruna taking 3/9 and Sakun Dissanayake 3/16 with Sandeepa Vadage chiming in with 2/19. An unbeaten start to the season!
