Macca strikes again, this time for 7th grade. 6th grade have a run chase next week, while ODD lose a tight game and ODG win easily.
6th Grade won the toss and sent Cockburn in at Coker Park. After an early strike by the Tigers the opposition batted with determination all day as they batted out the entire day to end on a very respectable total of 177. Guri Singh bowled 22 overs for his figures of 2/68 and it was Vijay Kumar once again with the ball taking 4/29 from his 17 overs. Jodat, Raj and Muhammad took 1 wicket each. We will need to bat well next week to stay on top of the ladder.
7th Grade traveled to Enright reserve, for Vinnie Ciancio’s 200th game, in a must win match vs 2nd place Cockburn, won the toss and sent them in. After a quick wicket from Jarad Delamere 2/15, Cockburn were looking strong at 1/47 but then it was centre stage time once again for our Premiership hero Macca. He destroyed their batting order with a return of 6/8 from 9 overs with 5 maidens, bowling them all out for just 72 after 31 overs. The last 9 wickets falling for just 25 runs. Our batsman then got us to 2/63 with Alan Kidd smashing 23 with 2 sixes and Vinnie still there on 10no. Just 10 more runs for victory next week and a chance to bat all day for a big score.
ODD were at home vs Thornlie, won the toss and batted. We started with a blaze of boundaries from our first 3 batsman with Chaminda Mendis 44 with 8 fours and 1 six, Joseph Wijayamuni 71 with 6 fours and 5 sixes and Charith Rajapakse 41 with 2 fours and 2 sixes getting us to 3/164 after just 22 overs but we failed to bat out the overs and were bowled out for 201 from 31 overs, still a decent score. Thornlie stayed with the run rate throughout the innings but had a bit of a hiccup losing 4/20 after the 30th over, but 23 off the last 2 overs got them over the line by 5 runs, finishing on 8/206 and one that got away. Samidon 2/47 and Irosh 2/41were the best of our bowlers. A must win is needed next week boys!
ODG were away at Woodford Park vs Willetton, won the toss (again) and chose to bowl. Our bowlers kept it very tight, but couldn’t get a break through till the 17th over when Azza 3/38 and Asim 2/37 started to go through their line up. Stuey 1/10 and Steve 1/27 came back at the end to keep them to 8/134. Connor and Blake bowled 8 tight overs for 19 runs. A shuffle in the batting order gave Connor McGinty a chance to shine and he grabbed it with both hands making a fine 47 at the top of the order, along with Darren Third 26, Tyler Richards 22, Blake Third 16no and Aaron Dyer 16no we passed their total in the 32nd over, finally posting 5/155 and staying a game clear on top of the ladder.
