This week’s “Blast from the Past” #26 is a batting legend for the Tigers, Chris Wisse.

Chris played for the Tigers in 19 seasons over 20 years from 1989/90 to 2008/09 playing half his career in first grade. Chris was an outstanding batsman, usually opening or in the top 5, a fantastic wicket keeper and fieldsman and a handy part time off spinner. Wisser played in 208 games making 6387 runs (the second highest for the club) at an average of 29.43 with 3 centuries and 37 fifties (the most fifties for the club) and a highest score of 135 vs Leeming in 1996/97. Chris also recorded the highest number of dismissals in the 90s with 6 and still features in the highest opening partnership for the Tigers of 175 with Mark Richards vs CBC in 2005. He was a fantastic keeper, keeping in 59 games with 64 catches and 3 stumpings , with 75 catches as a fieldsman. With the ball he took 25 wickets at an average of 37.88 and a best of 3/76 vs Kwinana in 1997/98. Wisser played in 2 grand finals winning one in 2002/03 in 3rd grade.

Chris won the batting averages for the club many times over his career and was a big social supporter of the club.
