This weeks blast from the past #19 is Paul Tompsett. Paul (I like Tommo) played in 161 games from 1980/81 to 2000/01, 54 of those as Captain with 31 wins. Paul played in 4 Grand Finals winning one. Tommo was an all rounder who was a reliable batsman, a very handy bowler and a great fielder. With the bat Paul scored 1891 runs at an average of 13.32 with 2 fifties and a highest score of 66 vs Ferndale in 1995. With the ball Tommo took 126 wkts at an average of 24.75 and a best return of 4/28 vs Ferndale in 1987. He ranks 37th in batting and bowling for the Tigers. Paul was also very active on the committee and a great clubman, a much loved Captain and a popular bloke. Who could ever forget his performance at the players revue as one of Robert Palmers dancing girls! Please share your stories of Tommo in the comments below.
