A wild weekend of Semi Finals brings joy and tears as we win 3 and lose 3 with two 3 run thrillers and a close call at Coker Park.

4th Grade gave ladder leaders Kelmscott a good fight in their semi final. Batting first we made a decent total of 160 off 66 overs with some fighting partnerships along the way. Haroon toughed it out making 56 from 163 balls with help from Shahzad Rafique who made 34 and Umar Qureshi with 20. Our bowlers kept us in it and at 6/144 we still could have caused an upset, but it was not meant to be as Kelmscott reached 7/164. Vijay Kumar took 4/40 and Ajimon Paul Thurai 2/21. Well done Guys.

6th Grade had a close one vs Jandakot at home. Batting first we posted a great score of 9/238 with contributions from Deepak Saini with 36, Steve Hall a very patient 33, Keegan Bennett a watchful 50 and Liam Bastin smashing 69 from 60 balls. Sunday started great having them 4/10 the game looked over, but a 100 run partnership got them back in the game and Jandakot were looking dangerous. It started getting down to 10 runs an over toward the end but, Guri Singh bowled with fire to take 7/39 to finish them off and book us a Grand Final spot next weekend vs Cockburn. Steve Hall took 2/68 and Jandakot finished with a courageous 222.

6th Grade win their Semi Final vs Jandakot
Guri Singh takes 7/39 in the Semi Final

7th Grade had a tough game vs Cockburn. Bowling first Cockburn made a great total of 9/218 thanks to a century from their number 5. Nagarjuna Karnam took 3/30, Dinesh Kanagala 2/32 and Manoj Yelavarthy Mohan 2/32. It was going to be a tough chase and it was as we were bowled out for just 76, Wajahat Nazeer top scored with 22 and Manoj Yelavarthy Mohan 21. A sad end to a great season by the Tigers.

ODB had a resounding victory over rivals Hilton/Bicton. Batting first we had solid contributions from all bats without anyone dominating, Libu Louis Jainy top scoring with 39, Sethuraj Rajendran 32, Asish C Thomas 22 and Shanab Valappil 21no for a total of 7/187. Our bowlers got on top early and stayed there keeping them to 143 off 39.1 overs. Muhammed Ajmal Pallithadathil Nazer took 3/24 and Jouhar Khan was brilliant with the new ball to take 2/14 from his 8 overs. We now get a shot for a repeat GF win next week vs Cockburn.

ODD had a heart stopping game vs SJ Blues. Batting first we started well and at 2/103, looked like posting a big score, but we fell away and were bowled out for 131, Manu Ambiyil top scored with 36, Eldose Paul 29 and Safil Sharif 25. Our bowlers started on top as SJ Blues were slumped to 5/16, but a big partnership got them back in it as it came down to the wire. On 8/121 SJ Blues needed 11 from the last over to win and with a six from the first ball of J Kg’s over it looked gone, but a run out with them going for a second run from the second ball of the over, tipped it back in our favour. Then another run out from the next ball sealed a stunning victory. Jobin Thomas bowled great taking 3/26 as we book a Grand Final spot vs Canning Vale next Saturday.

ODE also had a heart stopping finish to their game vs Leeming. Bowling first everything went right as we sent Leeming packing for just 68 runs. Vihanga Silva was brilliant taking 2/3 from 4 overs and Yasas Gunasekara took another bag of wickets with 5/12 from 7 overs. It looked a formality to get the 69 needed for victory especially with a good start of 23, Missaka Wickramasinghe making 20 from 18 balls. But things turned bad as we fell away. On 8/64 we only needed one good hit for the tie, but we lost our last 2 wickets for 1 run to lose a thriller by 3 runs. A sad way to end what was a great season from the ODEs. Well done Guys!!
