Kenwick would start well reaching 2/76, both wickets to Frank, but with the introduction of Merv, together with Frank in tandem, they would skittle through the next 8 batsmen for just 20 runs, bowling them out for 96 in 22.2 eight ball overs. Frank taking 6/35 from 11 overs and Merv taking 4/8 from 4.2 overs.

Canningtons chase was a tight affair passing Kenwick’s total with 7 down and eventually posting 107 in 43.1 overs, a lead of only 11 runs. Opener Wayne Blee top scoring with 28, Merv scoring 13, Frank 18 and Jim Purcell 17, the only batsmen in double figures.

Batting a second time, Kenwick would be bamboozled by spin as Frank took the first 4 wickets with Kenwick on 4/12. A partnership of 19 would see opening bowler Jeff Tillemans replaced by Merv with instant results, taking 2 wickets and Kenwick reeling on 6/39. Frank would then clean up the tail taking the last 4 wickets for the addition of just 3 runs, bowling Kenwick out for 42 in 23.3 overs. Frank ending with the amazing figures of 8/17 off 11.3 overs and Merv 2/6 off 5 overs.
