Not a good result from the weekend with 4 losses.
4th Grade were defending 196 vs Kenwick. Things started off very well, with Kenwick in early trouble, but a rear guard fight from their number 4 batsman who scored a century, got them over the line with 218 from 74.3 overs. Raj Singh taking 5/45 along with Guri Singh 2/47 and Saeed Ahmad 2/21. Let’s bounce back next week.
5th Grade were defending 144 vs Jandakot Park. An early wicket from Harsh got us excited but strong partnerships got them to 3/133 but a great fightback started with a runout, then 2 wickets from Captain Steve Hall saw them fall to 7/147. Some big hitting from their number 9 got them to 9/217 from their full 65 overs. Harsh Jansali 3/31 and Steve Hall 2/43 the best of the bowlers. Good fight from our 5ths.
6th Grade were defending just 112 with SJ Blues recommencing on 2/22. Three quick strikes from Azza and Stuey saw them slump to 5/29 and the game was ours for the taking, but a spate of dropped chances and only 10 fielders got them to 5/89 before another fightback had them 7/89 then 8/105 and we were still in it. But some late hitting got them just over the line, making 133. Stuart Riseley with his 4/18 took him to 400 wickets for the Tigers and Azza, Ambo, Asim and Connor taking 1 wicket each. We batted for a second time making 4/62 with Sanjeev Saini making 22 with 20 of them off one over. The return of a few players next week will see us bounce back.
ODD were away to Willetton, won the toss and batted first, but could only muster 80 from 28.2 overs and no batsman passing 14. It needed a good start with the ball and that’s what Naleen and Irosh gave us with 5 quick wickets and they were in deep trouble at 5/13. A fightback started and got them to 5/60 before Naleen struck again twice to have them 7/60. But we could not remove their number 4, who won the game off his own bat with 72no and them reaching 9/122. Naleen Fernando was the star with 5/16 and Irosh Ranathunga taking 2/17. Better luck next week boys.
Milestones for the Tigers
Stuart Riseley with his 4/18 on Saturday, reached 400 wickets for the Tigers and becomes just the 6th Tiger to reach this milestone. He has taken them at an average of 19.63 with 7 five wicket hauls and a best of 7/42. Stu has also scored over 5000 runs and becomes just the second Tiger to take the 5000 runs/400 wickets double along with Richo. Congratulations Stuart
