Weekend Wrap – 12th October

All 4 teams got under way for the season with this weeks result being 3 wins and 1 narrow loss.

6th Grade made it 2 from 2 with a win vs Thornlie away. Batting first the Tigers got off to a great start with an opening partnership of 69 between Waqas Mehdi 42 and Shahrukh 25 but a steady fall of wickets saw the total a modest 138. Our bowlers toiled away at the opposition with Nadeem Muhammed breaking their backs with a fine 5/16 off 8 overs with 4 maidens. Waqas also picked up 2/25 and Thornlie were bowled out for 117.

7th Grade had a narrow loss to Cockburn with the visitors batting first and posting only 129, Steve Hall 3/13 and Harsh Jansali 3/26 were the pick of the bowlers. The chase was looking good at 5/100 lead by Matt Pedulla 40 but a late collapse saw us all out for 116. Better luck next week boys!

ODD had their first game for the Tigers Club and had a very convincing win vs Jandakot. Batting first we piled on the runs making 9/231 from 35 overs with Naleen Fernando 59, Chaminda Mendis 32, Manu Pathinaike 30 and Sanka Dissanayake 21 the best of an all round performance. Our bowlers tied down the opposition and kept them to just 6/123, Asim Qureshi 2/16 and Maka Dias 2/11 the best of our bowlers. Well done guys and welcome to Tigerland!

ODG travelled to Forrestdale lost the toss and were sent in to bat. A great 2nd wicket partnership of 84 between Stuart Risley 45 and Callum Richards 36 and then another 62 with Darren Third 47, setup a very good total of 5/178, Connor making a quick fire 18no at the end. Our bowlers were on top from the start with Steve Ambler returning 3/20 which could very well have been 6 for, and Stuart Riseley 1/7 from 5 overs. Then a solid performance from Connor McGinty 1/21 and JL Downing 2/13 and a great finish by our 14 year old debutant, Blake Third with 3/32, finishing them off for just 118. A solid first up win!

Milestones for the Tigers

Jackson Curthoys played his 100th game for the Tigers. Jackson is playing in his 10th season, making his debut in 2009/10. He has made 1433 runs at an average of 15.08 with 3 fifties and a highest score of 58. With the ball he has taken 109 wkts at an average of 20.71 with 2 five fors and a best of 5/38 last season. Here’s to another 100 games.
