Welcome to another year of Tigers cricket as we get started in the 2019/20 season. This year we will have 4 teams once again but this year we will have 2 “grade” teams and 2 OD teams being 6th grade, our ODA team from last year and 7th grade. The OD teams will be ODD and ODG, all the best for all our teams and hope we can produce that elusive Premiership this year.
6th Grade played at home and were sent in to bat by Piara Waters. A not so good start saw us teetering at 5/35 but some graet batting from Haroon Ahmed with a 50 and some big hitting from Farooq Ali with 34 saw us reach a defendable total of 161. Piara Waters were looking the goods at 1/64 but an inspired spell from Farooq 2/9 and Vijay Kumar 3/12 with a couple of run outs saw the visitors crash to be all out for 120. A great first up win for the Tigers.
7th grade travelled to Forrestdale and were sent in to bat. After losing Vinnie early, Dempsey Badorek 56 and Matt Pedulla 26 put on 98 togetherand then fine contributions from captain Steve Hall 30 and Jack Robb 20no saw us post a good total of 6/178. A good start with the ball saw Forrestdale at 4/76 and the game on the fence, but some strong partnerships got them over the line with a final score of 7/196. Great bowling from Reddy Madamshetti with 3/22 and a very special 1/41 from Paul Mclean saw Macca reach 400 wickets for the Tigers.
Milestones for the Tigers
Paul Mclean took his wicket tally for the Tigers to 400 on the weekend. Paul is just the 4th Tiger to pass the 400 mark so he now has in his sights Aaron Dyer 408, Mark Richards 432 and a very distant Frank MacGrotty 592. Paul has taken his wickets at an average of 19.98 with 6 five wicket hauls and a best of 5/15. Congratulations Macca!
