Weekend Wrap – 20th Oct

Our 6th Grade started their first 2 day fixture with a battle against Phoenix away. We won the toss and sent Phoenix into bat, bowling them out for 162 in 54 overs. Staring with the ball was our Coach Woodsy with another 4 wicket haul of 4/44 and Jackson Curthoys taking 3/26 and Steve Hall 2/51. The boys had to bat for 9 overs and ended up on 2/22 with Vinnie out and Dempsey unfortunately run out. A big innings from our middle order will help us get the modest target next week.

In ODA the Tigers won the toss and batted first against the Perth Tamil but struggled to put up a great score ending with 156 off 37 overs. Umar Qureshi 27, Ritesh Kumar 23 and Satvinder Singh 24 the best of our batsmen. Perth Tamil replied with 6/232 off 40 overs and non of our bowlers managed more than 1 wicket. Let’s lift for our next game boys. Congratulations to Satvinder Singh for scoring his 1000th run for the club during this game!

In ODC the Tigers were locked in a high scoring battle with East Fremantle away from home. East Freo were sent in and piled on 247 in 36 overs with D Narasani taking 4/34, K Kalluri 2/47, A Ghai 2/53 and AR Narayan 2/4. Chasing a big score the Tigers had a bad start being 7/93 early but a big comeback by V Kiran 60no and A Ghai 30, got us to 9/203 at the end of the match.

In ODE the Tigers won the toss and sent Piara Waters into bat with instant success, reducing the visitors to 4/37 early, finally bowling them out for 101 in 33 overs. Aaron Dyer 3/23 and Asim Qureshi 3/19 bowled superbly with Sohail Razzaq chiming in with 2/24. The run chase started badly with Shamez falling early but Richo and Stewie got us on track with a 56 run stand and we soon overtook the score and carried on to 8/172 off our 35 overs. Stuart Riseley top scoring with 59, Connor McGinty scoring 29no and Richo 23. Connor hitting his very first 6 of his career off the second ball he faced. Another strong performance from the boys with only 10 players and a big thanks to substitute fielders Manu and Keegan.
