Giggs Aiberti

Giggs Alberti

This weeks “blast from the past” #8 is Giggs Aiberti. Giggsy played 143 games from 1964/65 to 1991/92 playing in 7 Grand Finals and winning 6 of them.(many records are missing from the 1970s, so he probably played more games) He was a brilliant bowler and a very handy lower order batsman. His bowling stats are very impressive, taking 235 wickets (the 15th highest wicket taker in the club history) at an average of 18.75, taking a 5for 7 times and his best return of 7/15 vs Gosnells in 1970. With the bat he made 992 runs at an average of 11.02 and a top score of 59. Giggsy was made a life member of the Tigers in 1979 and was crowned Cricketer of the Year in 1980/81 season. Giggsy was the assistant coach for the Tigers for many years after he retired from playing. Giggsy’s son Brad also played for the club with his dad from 1981/82 to 1991/92.
