A New Year brings some amazing feats from the Tigers as our One Day Teams struggle in the Heat of 41C. Two amazing centuries and a 7 wicket haul were the highlight of the weekend.
4th Grade were away to Kwinana and chose to bat but were soon in trouble as they loose 2 quick wickets. But Haroon and Umar dig in before Umar holes out for a very patient 16. Things turn worse as we struggle to 7/95 but Haroon is still there and with the tail he creates a master innings. Then with number 10 and 11 Ajimon Paul Thurai 14 and Sooraj Suresh 14no, they put on 116 runs and Haroon passes 100 and then 150 to finish on 151no from 229 balls with 20 fours and 1 six. A truly magnificent innings to get us in a strong position of 9/232. A good bowling performance next week for a big win vs the 2nd top side.

6th Grade were at home to Kwinana and batted in very hot conditions. Openers Shamez and Steve Hall made a great start adding 73 for the first wicket off 20 overs before Steve fell for 29. Shamez and Jackson with 31 then put on 60 for the 3rd wicket and we were looking good at 3/134 with Shamez looking solid. Wickets fell around President Shamez but he pushed on in the heat till he finally notched his maiden century with a single to deep point and a celebratory dance. He fell straight after his century but the Tigers were in great shape, all out for 239. All set for victory next week with a good bowling display.

7th Grade are in great shape vs Hilton/Bicton at home. Bowling first we bowled them out for just 92 in 35 overs, Ravikumar Nakka taking 3/10, Dinesh Kanagala 2/18 off 10 overs and Nagarjuna Karnam 2/5 in a top display of tight bowling. We then came out firing making 2/106 in just 13 overs giving us first innings victory and setting up an outright for next week. Captain Sindhu Govindu was in aggressive mode making 66 in 40 balls with 8 fours and 4 massive sixes, ably supported by Dinakar Reddy Narasani who is 27no. An early declaration could be on the cards next week after some lusty hitting.
ODA lost vs Leeming in a tight encounter at Shelly Park. Batting first we got away to a flying start in a 30 over game. Dwarakanath Canakapalli was in fine form making 43 from 38 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes along with opener Yeshwanth Kallem who made 38 from 37 balls with 8 fours, but the fall of their wickets slowed things down with only Captain Reddy Madamshetti with 28 making head way. We finished on 8/162 a very competitive score. The game came down to the wire with Leeming just passing the score in the last over at 3/164. We are looking strong but just need to get those close games.
ODB lost in a heart breaker vs Thornlie. Batting first in a reduced 30 over game, no one went on with a big score with 4 players scoring in the 30s, Sethuraj Rajendran and Muhammed Ajmal Pallithadathil Nazer with 31 each, Asish C Thomas with 35 and Captain Nithin Radhakrishna a quick fire 32 off 19 balls with 3 sixes and 1 four leaving us with a total of 8/175. Thornlie started well and at 3/145 looked well on the way to victory but our bowlers kept us in it, with Rahul Nair taking 3/31 along with 2 run outs they were reduced to 9/168 with 1 over to go. Needing 8 off the last over it came down to the last ball with 3 to win. Thornlie managed a bounday off the last ball to deny us a victory in a see sawing game. Although it was a tough loss, I am sure we will bounce back next week.
ODD lost vs North Baldivis. Bowling first we started well having them 3/36 but some lusty hitting and big partnerships got them to 5/203 with Alex Pullannimannil Samuel taking 2/14. Our bats never got going in a big chase as we only posted 8/123 with Nanda Kumar Melari top scoring with 24no. It was a shock loss to the team but we still sit on top of the ladder.
ODE was the only one day to team to post a win in it’s game vs East Fremantle. Batting first we posted a great score of 6/195 with the help of 53 extras. Opener Rusiru Pitiyage top scored with 43, Captain Mohamed Zainudeen made 28 and Saliya Widanagamage not out on 36. Our bowlers started well with Rusiru Pitiyage taking 2/24 and Nuwan Liyanaarachchi 1/23 but East Fremantle bounced back and were in the game until Yasas Gunasekara came back into the attack and dismantled the East Freo line up with 7 wickets for 21, twice being on a hatrick. Yasas has the best figures for the season so far with an awesome display, bowling East Freo out for 153 and giving us another big win.
