Christmas came early for the Tigers on the weekend as we win 6 out of 7 games. Another 5 for from our bowling Guru, Guri Singh.

4th Grade won vs Perth Tamil. Resuming on 2/71 in chase of 131 we ended up with 267 thanks to debutante Mahesh Jaswal with 58 and Yadwinder Singh Khangura making 46 from 38 balls. We then had another bowl at Perth Tamil to have them reeling at 7/82, Salman Farsi taking 2/22. A good win has us sitting in 4th spot for the break.

6th Grade won it’s second outright victory for the season vs Jandakot. Resuming our batting on 4/91 we declared the innings on 6/134 with Matt Pedulla on 20no. Our bowlers got stuck into the Jandakot bats again bowling them out for 103 in 39.2 overs, Guri Singh taking his 3rd five wicket haul for the season with 5/27 and a total of 34 wickets off just 8 games. Steve Hall capped off a great game too with 3/9 and 7 wickets for the match. We needed just 13 runs for outright victory which we did in 1.3 overs. We now sit on top of the ladder.

7th Grade won vs Phoenix. Resuming the chase on 2/53 chasing 85 we ended with a total of 156, Shashi kiran Pidikiti making a fine knock of 43 and the teams shook hands after we were bowled out. We now sit 2 games clear in 4th spot on the ladder.

ODA won vs Canning Vale. Bowling first we dismissed them for just 116, Mouriyan Rajendran taking 3/23, Reddy Madamshetti 3/19 and Manoj Kiradi 2/21. The chase was confident as we passed their score in 30 overs ending on 5/117, Dwarakanath Canakapalli Naga top scoring on 40no, Ajaykumar Reddy making 27. The win leaves us in 6th spot but only 1 win out of the top four. A big push in the New Year.

ODB lost it’s first game for the season vs Cockburn. Batting first we went from a strong position of 3/111 to all out for 137, Muhammed Nazer top scoring with 40no, Shanab Valappil 33 and Yesudas Kuriakose 30. Cockburn knocked off the target in just 23 overs to finish on 1/138, Muhammed Nazer the only wicket taker with 1/21. The loss didn’t affect our place at the top of the ladder going into the Christmas break.

ODD won a thrilling match vs Kenwick. Batting first we only made 99 thanks to Subin Thomas smashing 28no off 20 balls batting at number 10 and a last wicket partnership of 30 valuable runs. Things were not looking good as Kenwick started well on 0/43 but a rush of wickets reduced them to 6/52. Kenwick then put on 26 runs until a wicket from Syed Ali broke the partnership and the rest followed like dominos to be bowled out for 85, a 12 run victory. Safil Sharif was brilliant with 4/23, Ciril Jose 3/13 and Syed Ali 2/15. The fantastic win puts us on top of the ladder.

ODE also won a close game vs Forrestdale. Batting first we posted a total of 156 thanks mainly to 61 wides from the opposition. Rusiru Pitiyage top scored with 31 and Nuwan Liyanaarachchi 23no. The last 2 wickets adding 55 valuable runs. Forrestdale came close with 130 but great bowling from Lakmal Madushanka with 4/16 kept them out and 2 run outs at the end helped greatly. We finish the year in a good place 2nd on the ladder with only 1 loss for the season.

The club is in good shape going into the break with 6 of the 7 teams in the final four, just ODA in 6th spot but only 1 win out. The statistics for the club are unreal with 5 centuries, 38 fifties and 12 five wicket hauls at the half way mark for the season. Let’s keep up the good form going into next year. I want to wish all Tigers and their families all the best for Christmas, whether you celebrate it or not, and a Happy New Year, with lots of runs and wickets in the second half of the season to all Tigers. Merry Christmas everyone!!!
