We are excited to announce that our club has successfully installed a new air conditioner for the canteen at Coker Park, thanks to a 50/50 equipment grant from the City of Canning and the hard work of our volunteers.
The canteen is a vital part of our club, providing delicious food and drinks for our Players and guests. However, the canteen was also a hot spot, literally. On some days, when the temperature outside was close to 40 degrees, it could get to 48 degrees inside the canteen. This made it very uncomfortable and unsafe for our volunteers, Donelle and Franca, who oversaw preparing afternoon teas. It also affected the quality and performance of our appliances.
We knew we needed a solution, and we found one in the Community Grants Program offered by the City of Canning. This program provides funding for community groups to purchase equipment that enhances their services and facilities. We applied for a 50/50 grant, which means that we had to match the amount of money that the City of Canning would provide. Fortunately, we had enough funds from the profits that Donelle, Franca and Macca made from Junior and Senior Country Week events held earlier this year. They did an amazing job of catering for hundreds of people and raising money for our club.
With the grant and our own contribution, we were able to buy a brand new air conditioner that can cool down the canteen to a comfortable level. We installed it beginning of this season, and we are already feeling the difference. Donelle is smiling as she prepares the afternoon teas, and Franca is happy that she can use the appliances without worrying about them overheating. The food safety standards are also improved, as we can store and cook the food in a cooler environment.
We are very grateful to the City of Canning for their generous support, and to Donelle and Franca for their dedication. We are also proud of our club for achieving this goal together. We hope that you will enjoy the canteen as much as we do, and that you will join us in celebrating our cool success story.
See you soon!
