Welcome to 2023!! Our 2 day grades are looking good on week 1 while our 1 day teams win 2 out of 3 in some very close games. ODE and ODG start back next week!
4th Grade are looking good in it’s game vs Willetton at Coker Park. Losing the toss, Willetton batted first and got away to a great start at 3/126 with 2 run outs from the Tigers. Our bowlers then struck back taking the next 7 wickets for 35 runs. Lead by Sunil Dogra with 2/18 and Saeed Ahmad with 2/11 reducing them to 4/139. Then Asim Qureshi finished them off taking 3/30 with Vijay taking 1/23. We then batted for 13 overs with Asim opening with MH Ghani getting to 1/33 at stumps, Asim falling near the end of play and Ghani on 26no.
6th Grade will be chasing outright victory next week as they bowl Willetton out for a paltry 21 runs. Winning the toss and bowling first, the wickets started tumbling from the 1st over with Steve Hall and Guri Singh taking 9 wickets between them. Steve finishing on 4/3 off 8 overs with 6 maidens and Guri taking 6/15 from 7.5 overs. We then batted for 17 overs before declaring on 2/102 with Sanjeev Saini on 60no from 52 balls with 3 sixes and 9 fours and Della on 17no. We thought the game could be over in 1 day but Willetton openers shut up shop to make just 10 runs from 20 overs. We have all next week to grab that outright victory that could propel us into finals contention.
7th Grade were away to Jandakot, winning the toss and sending them into bat. Our bowlers did a great job of tying them down, keeping Jandakot to just 7/124, the bowlers sharing the wickets around with Pavan and Balvinder taking 2 wickets each. The run chase started well with our openers adding 64 for the first wicket, Ajay Reddy departing first on 23. The second wicket would add 80 and win the game as Manoj Kiradi made a brilliant 74 from 76 balls and Captain Dwarakanth Canakapalli ending on 65no. With our team on 4/178 and still 6 overs to go, Jandakot walked off the field ending the game in confusion? The ruling will be made by the Association.
ODB had a close game with Roleystone at Coker Park. we won the toss and batted first and got away to a flying start. Opener Siddharth Bachhawat leading the way with 68 and Sindhu Govindu making a quick fire 34 but our wickets started to tumble at the end, as we were bowled out for 182 with overs to spare. Roleystone were consistent in their batting not losing wickets in chunks as they came very close to winning, reaching 9/174 after the 35 overs. The 31 wides we bowled did not help! Karnam and Manoj took 2 wickets each as the wickets were shared around.
ODC were in a tight tustle with Phoenix after winning the toss and bowling first. We took 2 early wickets, but that was followed by a big 109 run partnership and then another one of 60 runs as Phoenix reached 8/218, Vysakh Menon taking 4/24, but it was our 41 wides that would hurt us in the end. The run chase started badly losing 3/39 but Safil Sharif with 41 and Vinod Suneeth with a quickfire 45 would keep us in the game. A few more wickets would fall to have us in a precarious 8/153 with overs running out, but Captain Nithin Radhakrishna had other ideas as he smashed 58no from 36 balls with 3 sixes and 4 fours, to just fall short of the target on 9/213, a 5 run loss. If not for the 41 wides!!!
