Sixth Grade win in a thriller, Fourth Grade lose outright, ODC lose a close one, ODE lose 2 in a row and ODH win it’s 4th game straight.

Fourth Grade were chasing a massive score vs Willetton and with 3 players short for this week, it was always going to be a struggle. We only managed 7/65 in the 1st innings with Sunil Dogra 23 and Vijay Kumar 22no. Tyler injured his leg during Willeton’s 2nd innings so we were down to 7 players and only made 6/40 in our 2nd innings, losing outright. Not a great day for the Tigers.

Sixth Grade were 1/26 going into week 2 chasing 126 vs Kwinana. Things were looking sweet at 1/83 but the loss of Russell for 28 triggered a collapse and when we lost nightwatchman, Asim for 23 we were 5/95. Things got worse when Matty was bowled just before tea leaving us 8/110, needing 17 with 2 wickets in hand. Callum and Steve Hall were looking good but with just 4 runs to go Callum was bowled, with Steve Ambler joining Steve Hall in the middle and the game on the line. A couple of tense overs were kept out when Steve Hall launched one over mid wicket to the boundary for the win. The 2 Steve’s went on and added 41 for the last wicket ending on 164, Steve Hall 25 and Steve Ambler 14no. Kwinana batted a second time making 2/46, Vinnie 1/8 and Callum 1/2 the wicket takers. A great tense win!

Steve Hall 25 and Steve Ambler 14no put on 41 for the last wicket to win the game
A memorable game with Russell taking his 150th wicket in his 200th game and Asim taking his 150th wicket for the Tigers

ODC were away to SJ Blues, won the toss and batted first. We got off to a great start adding 85 for the first wicket with Akhil Mathew 41 and Sujit Pankajakshan 35 playing well. With the fall of their wickets at 2/99 we lost another 6 wickets for 55 runs leaving us in trouble at 8/154 but Eldhose baby with 33 and Jouhar Khan 16no got us to 9/181. Our bowlers started well keeping them to 4/87 but a fightback kept the Blues in the hunt at 5/145, another 3 quick wickets saw us on top at 8/161 with 15 balls to go, but 2 sixes from their number 10 in an 18 run over got them over the line ending on 9/185. Eldhose Baby 2/33 and Vipin Varghese 2/29 the best of the bowlers. A rare loss from our Tigers!

ODE were at home to Forrestdale, won the toss and batted first. Our bats just didn’t get going in this innings with only Captain, Stefan Varughese getting past twenty with 26no. If not for 39 extras we would not have reached our total of 9/141. Our bowlers kept it tight and at 5/87 we were still in the game but some big hitting from their number 7 got them over the line, ending up on 7/169 and a second loss in a row to our boys. Time to bounce back next week.

ODH were away to Willetton, won the toss and batted first. None of our bats really went on with it with 4 players getting 20s. Aforaj 21, Dilshan 27, Mohamed 29 and Irosh 20, with 44 extras we got to 9/184 off 30 overs. Our bowlers struck early having them in trouble at 4/35, Captain Rusiru Pityage doing the damage with 4/30. A batting blitz from their number 5 boosted their score but 2 wickets from Heshan Kothalawala 2/28 halted that and then 4 wickets from Dilshan Asanka 4/8 finished them off for 119. Another win keeps us entrenched in the top 2.
