Fourth and Sixth Grade both go down in close games while our One Day teams keep piling on the runs and the wins. We also see our first century scored for the season by Dilshan Asanka in ODH.
4th Grade were at home to Roleystone with 3 players promoted from ODE, we lost the toss and were sent in to bat. We got off to a flying start with Haroon and Safil Sharif adding 46 for the first wicket till Haroon was dismissed for 22. Syed Ali joined Safil but with the total on 61 Syed was caught and then Safil fell soon after on 3/68 for a well made 38 runs off 33 balls with 7 fours. Vijay hung in there for 21 runs and Farooq Ali was not out on 20 when we were all out for 129 with 10 overs still to go. A good start had been wasted.
Our bowlers had a good start with Sunil Dogra picking up 1/12 and Safil Sharif 2/20 to have them in trouble at 3/32 but a solid partnership added 63 runs until Guri Singh 1/19 broke through and they were 4/95 with 7 overs left. With 1 over to go bowled by Farooq, it was still anyone’s game with them 4/124 and a run out off the first ball had them 5/124. The equation, 6 runs needed from 5 balls. With 2 balls left they needed 2 to win and a big six sealed the game with the final score 5/136. One that got away unfortunately has us out of the top four, let’s get winning next week lads!
6th Grade were away to Roleystone, won the toss and bowled first. A quick start by the opposition was halted by Jared Delamere 3/19 and then Wynand Gouws 3/35 to have them 2/37. Asim 1/39 got a stumping and Jared picked up 2 more wickets and Roleystone were in trouble at 5/48. Some loose bowling and a few dropped chances let them off the hook and they ended on 8/142.
The chase started well with Vinnie making 12 and Keegan 19 and at half way we were 2/66. Jared and Mark Delamere got us to 3/96 when Jared fell for 28 and Della soon followed for 17 and we were needing a run a ball at 5/103. Asim added some life with 15 runs but the pressure was too much for the tail as we lost 5 wickets for 9 runs and were left 10 runs short on 132 all out. We need some big wins soon to keep us in the hunt for finals.
ODC were away to Hilton/Bicton lost the toss and were sent in to bat. A cracking start from our openers Irshad Ali 54 with 3 sixes and Sujit Pankajakshan 42 with 6 fours and 1 six, got us off to a flyer. A sudden collapse of wickets saw us 4 down but Vysakh Menon got us going again with a brisk 67 including 3 fours and 6 sixes, along with Nithin Radhakrishna scoring 29 with 3 sixes, increased our total to 9/224.
Our bowlers struck early especially Jouhar Khan who took 4/14 and left Hilton reeling at 4/40 but they put together a big partnership and only lost 1 more wicket to end up with 5/156, a long way from the Tigers total. Anto Baby with 1/30 taking the other wicket.

ODE won by forfiet against Maddington.
ODH were away to Kardinya lost the toss and were sent in to bat. Two early wickets had us at 2/35 when Dilshan Asanka joined Nuwan Liyanaarachchi and together added 146 runs till Nuwan was caught for 45 from 58 balls, but Asanka kept attacking till he was adjudged LBW for 101 off 70 balls with 12 fours and 4 sixes and the score now 4/200. Our first centurion for the season in fine fashion. The wickets then tumbled and we were all out for 217, a massive score.
Kardinya were soon in trouble as the wickets fell on a regular basis and they ended on 111 with Mohamed Zainudeen 3/15 and a wicket each to Nuwan, Heshan, Prashan and Ishan. We are looking good with only one loss for the season so far.
