What a strange end to a season
Well what can we say, we finally got to have a windup after an abrupt end to our season. We saw our top grade (6th grade) get into the grand final, but with a pandemic COVID-19 causing a major issue throughout the world, the association, after long talks which would be hard to come to a decision like this, both Cannington and Thornlie teams that were to battle it out for the end of season grand final the game was to be deemed a draw.
But after waiting so long for a windup to happen due to quarantine laws and social distancing stopping us from having a great time together, we finally had it which I think everyone was happy to have which from what we did well on social distancing throughout the night even though going by the photos when we all received the awards, we did a good job.
The food, from Teramo Catering was great and we had some special guests from the City of Canning that enjoyed the night and we hope over the next few years and beyond, we will continue to help improve and work together for the future to help the community.
We saw 2 new inductee’s to the Life Members club and 1 member from last year who missed out receiving his membership badge on the night to make it more special for him. Welcome to the club Steve Hall, Vincent Ciancio and Aaron Dyer.
Matty Pedulla took out the Frank MacGrotty Club Person award which was well deserved, he is still a young fella, and with him as a role model, we can grow to become even more of a success.
The Paul Keep Cricketer of the Year award went to Vijay Kumar. Vijay had an outstanding year with both bat and ball, and lead our 6th grade to a One Day premiership. He almost needed a box after this night, as he received numerous awards.
