We had a solid start from our openers Keegan Bennett 17 and Matty Pedulla 20 but a mini collapse of 4/9 had us in trouble at 5/63, but the inform Dempsey Badorek put together a tidy knock of 48 to get us back on track. A late order partnership of 45 between Paul McLean 22 and Wynand Gouws 16 got our score to 168. We will need to bowl well next week for a victory.
ODD played against top of the table Perth Tamil at Queens Park oval, won the toss and batted first. Our batsmen struggled to get on top with only Joseph Wijayamuni 34 and Charith Rajapakse 33 getting on top of the bowling, as we only reached 118. Our bowlers made a great start and at 4/27 we were definately in the game. Another 3 quick wickets with the score on 59 put us in the drivers seat with them on 7/59. A bit of a partnership developed but a breakthrough at 8/112 and then 9/115 had us as favorites, but a quick couple of boundaries put an end to the fight, eventually bowling them out for 127. Manu bowled brilliantly taking 4/31 along with Arjuna Hettiarachchi 3/29. We hold on to 4th spot, just, and need 2 wins from the last 3 games.
ODG were at home to Willetton, lost the toss and were sent in to bat. Openers Richo 28 and Callum 17 put on 56 after 11 overs which set the tone for the day as we piled on the runs. Stuey was in fine touch with a quick fire 52 with 4 fours and 3 massive sixes and was well supported by Connor McGinty. At 3/155 and still 10 overs to go Connor was joined by Tyler as they got us to 3/219. Connor making his maiden 50 with 55 not out and Tyler making 29 not out. Our bowlers were as tight as usual, with Brian Downing, 0/6 from 7 overs, opening the bowling with Steve Ambler 2/27. We quickly had them on the back foot as they blocked their way to a very boring 94 all out in the last over. It was a chance to get everyone a bowl as we used 9 of our players to have a trundle. Salman Farsi, playing his first game for ODG took 3/7 with his left arm spin. Aaron Dyer 1/4, Asim Qureshi 1/30, Callum Richards 1/0 and Tyler Richards 1/0 from 1 ball, were the other wicket takers.
