Greg Bowden
I am starting a new segment called “Blast from the Past”. Each week I will publish an outstanding performance from a past or current player.
I would like to start this segment with a tribute to our great mate Gregory Bowden who was taken from us tragically last Saturday.
Greg played with the Tigers from 1985/86 to 2005/06 playing 180 games, taking 186 wkts at avg of 21.16 and making 1638 runs at avg 9.31 and a top score of 62. Greg was a big fast opening bowler and his highlight came against Thornlie on 6th Feb 1988 when he took 8/60 in 23 overs.
Greg will be missed by all the Tiger family, and when playing this weekend, please keep Greg in your thoughts as we all strive to play our best. Our deepest condolences to his wife Sharon Bowden and all his family and many friends.
Please post your fondest memory of GB in the comments below.
Paul Keep I remember when Greg broke his ankle down at fine leg where all fine fast bowlers field up at chidlow during a scratch match it was that cold that day we were setting the bins on fire around the ground just to get warm, flipper had to take him to swan districts hospital, at least they were warm, very sad news about bear fantastic bloke and teammate privileged to know him and share a beer and cricket field with
Lyn Mac I remember his dog climbing the tree at coker. Chidlow definately stands out and greg on crutches. Many functions and Greg always with a smile
